Thomas James Devlin Jr., 83, passed away on December 7, 2025. He was born on February 22, 1942, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Thomas James Devlin Sr. and Rita Joan Monahan. Thomas (Tom) was a resident of Crosby, Texas, for 48 years and previously lived in Middletown, New Jersey. While living in New Jersey, he earned an associate degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University or as Tom called it Fairly Difficult University.
He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Eastgate and was very active in the Crosby VFW Post 9761, where he proudly had served as both Commander and Treasurer. He loved his family, his church family, his friends, his work at the VFW Post 9761, and being Santa for many children over the years. Tom just loved people. Tom had a lifelong love of classic cars and enjoyed restoring them. He shared his passion for cars with his father and siblings. If there had been a family trivia contest for naming make, model, and year based on photographs, the Devlin family would have been the champions. He loved driving convertibles, especially wearing his Santa hat. He cherished time spent with his family and friends. He brought joy to many by playing Santa for schools, family, friends, his church, and the VFW. Tom was married to the love of his life, Nancy Devlin, for nearly 61 years. They celebrated their 60 th wedding anniversary last December.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Sr. and Rita, and his brothers, Brian Devlin and Owen Devlin.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his sons, Tim Devlin and Sean Devlin; his daughters, Tracy Worthington and her husband Brad, and Dawn Connery and her husband Matt; his brother Terry Devlin and his wife Michelle; his sister Jude McBurney; and his grandchildren Lindsey Sumner and her husband Zach, John Worthington, Ty Connery, and Elizabeth Worthington.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Eastgate, Texas, followed by an urn burial at Eastgate Cemetery in Dayton, Texas.
