Thomas Nelson Fisher, 84, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026. He was born on May 7, 1942, in Plattsburgh, New York to Edward T. Fisher and Adelaide Marie Bouyea Fisher.
Thomas was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and friend who touched the lives of many through his kindness, humor, and hardworking spirit. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He was well-loved by his children and great-grandchildren and was known throughout the community as someone who never met a stranger.
Thomas enjoyed staying active and spending time with family and friends. He loved playing slow-pitch softball, bowling, and horseshoes, and he was admired for both his competitive spirit and good nature. He was liked by so many and will be remembered for the joy he brought to those around him.
A dedicated worker throughout his life, Thomas worked as a meat cutter and owned and operated Fisher and Sons in New York. Even after retiring three times, he continued working as a security guard at Air Products. He was a resident of Dayton for 43 years and formerly resided in Morrisonville, New York.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ronnie Fisher; and his grandson, Jason Scott.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Janet Fisher; his sons, Scott Fisher and wife Gail, and Todd Fisher; his daughter, Jill Scott and husband Larry; as well as 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kim, Richard, Chandra, Kay, and all the staff at Harbor Hospice for the compassion, care, and support they provided during this time.
A service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. A reception will precede the service at 5:00 p.m. in the St. Joseph’s Hall.
Thomas will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
