Toni Lee Davis Smith, age 65, of Liberty, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, in Kingwood, Texas.
Toni was born on May 3, 1960, to Robert L. Davis and Bonnie Adams Davis. She was a lifelong resident of Liberty, where she lived for more than 60 years and graduated from Liberty High School. Following high school, Toni earned an associate’s degree and went on to dedicate herself wholeheartedly to her family, faith, and community.
A devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Liberty, Toni’s faith guided her life. She served as youth director during the years her daughter was a teenager, touching many young lives with her kindness, guidance, and steady encouragement.
Toni embraced life with joy and enthusiasm. She loved Crystal Beach, where she could often be found riding a golf cart with her beloved puppies, Baylee and Tiki, her feet in the sand as she collected shells. She treasured those trips to Crystal Beach and spontaneous weekend getaways with her husband of 20 years, Chipper Smith, as well as family camping trips and water skiing adventures.
She was a proud fan of George Strait, the Houston Astros, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Oklahoma Sooners. Volleyball held a special place in her heart—she loved playing and watching the game and proudly passed that passion on to her daughter, Jennifer. Toni also loved music and dancing, had a remarkable green thumb, and found great satisfaction in bringing struggling plants back to life.
Her favorite pastimes included watching game shows—especially Wheel of Fortune—playing bunco with friends, and enjoying Hallmark movies. Above all, Toni cherished her role as “Nana.” Her grandchildren were truly the light of her life, and she found endless joy in following their activities and cheering them on every step of the way.
Toni’s children and family fondly remember “the Toni look,” a glance that let any child know it was time to straighten up—no words required.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Bonnie Davis; her sister, Terri Norwood; and her brother, Scott Davis.
Toni is survived by her loving husband, Chipper Smith; daughters Jennifer Sims and husband Chris, Kristi Sterling and husband Dean; son Kevin Smith and wife Carri; sisters-in-law Felecia Davis, Darla Diaz and husband Daniel; brother-in-law Randy Norwood; grandchildren Keyli Scroggins, Luke Scroggins, Madison Sterling, Pearson Sterling and wife Claire, Carson Smith, and Cameron Smith; great-grandchild Hudson Ganey; nieces Lindsay Stokey and husband Patrick, Augusta Costlow and husband Cole; and nephew Brett Norwood.
A service celebrating Toni’s life will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Liberty, Texas, with burial to follow at Cooke Cemetery in Liberty. Pastor Clayton Hall and Pastor Lindsey Smith will officiate. Pallbearers will be Pearson Sterling, Luke Scroggins, Carson Smith, Cameron Smith, Brett Norwood, and Cole Costlow.
All services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home of Dayton, Texas.
