Wanda Joyce Dabney
March 30, 1943 – October 24, 2025
Wanda Joyce Stimac was born on March 30, 1943, in Houston, Texas, to Craig Stimac and Doris Ima Prestridge. Wanda went home to be with the Lord on October 24, 2025, at the age of 82 in Evergreen, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Fredia Cox and Cathy Stimac.
Wanda is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, John Lee Dabney; her sister Judy Barr; and her brother Craig Stimac Jr. and wife Cindy. She leaves behind her cherished children: David Dabney and wife Michelle, Robert Dabney and wife Jennifer, Janie Hurley and husband Chris, and her chosen son Ben Lilley and wife April. Along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Wanda was the proud grandmother of Cory Dabney and wife Tammy, Bryce Dabney and wife Amy, Megan Dabney, Emily Dabney, Jay Hurley, and Leah Hurley; and step-grandchildren Skylar Ellis and wife Shelby, and Morgan McAdams and husband Lonnie. Her great-grandchildren, Kayden, Kaysen, Hayden, Presleigh, Kashyn, Cole, Tate, and Kay Lynn, as well as many other treasured relatives and dear friends.
Growing up in Cleveland, Texas, as the eldest of five, Wanda learned early the values of hard work, compassion, and care. She spent her youth helping her parents and grandmother and developed a lifelong love for nurturing others.
Wanda married John, and together they built a loving family of three children. In addition to caring for her family she served as a nurse in hospitals in Cleveland and Conroe and then dedicated more than twenty four years serving the Coldspring community as a school nurse and bus driver always stepping up wherever she was needed.
Wanda never met a stranger. She was the first to lend a helping hand and the one others turned to for comfort and care. Her heart for service, and her unwavering devotion to her family made her beloved by all who knew her.
Above all, Wanda loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her kindness, warmth, and selflessness will continue to live on in the hearts and actions of her family and friends.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Celeste and the staff at Celestrial Care for the compassion and comfort they provided Wanda and her family.
