Obituary

William Gordon Shaw Born February 4, 1944 to OD Shaw and Imogene Shaw. William was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. William attended Coldspring school from kindergarten through 12th graduating in 1961 to move to Brenham attending Blinn College for his basics then attended Sam Houston State University to finish his degree. Marrying the love of his life Judy Shaw in September 1,1963. He went to teach in Coldspring 1967-1968 teaching history and coaching basketball. Judy and William had one Son Gordon Eugene Shaw. William devoted his life to being an educator and educating others after graduating from college. Seems he never stopped going to some kind of schooling in his entire lifespan. He went to Splendora where he taught school, became principal and then went on to become superintendent. From there he moved to Shepherd, where he was a principal and a coach. After retiring, him and Judy moved to Eagle Rock Missouri, where he lived out his days until April 14, 2026 teaching others to fly fish, running a marina and making fly fish flies and at a bait shop in Missouri. William also taught and coached basketball in Exeter Missouri for a brief time. William was always known for being a kind man, loved his family, proud of his education, and to never mess with his hair. He will truly be missed. 

William is preceded in death by his parents, O.D. Shaw and Imogene Shaw; wife, Judy Shaw; son, Gordon Shaw; brother, Jerald Shaw; and nephew, Leslie Shaw. He is survived by his sister, Delores Washington; grandsons, Timothy Shaw, Trey Weaver and wife Jessika Weaver, Casey Shaw, and Cody Shaw and wife Valerie Shaw; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn Shaw, Kaydence Shaw, Eli Shaw, Stetson Weaver, and Maci Weaver; nieces, Wendy Merrell and husband Billy, Jack Merrell Ramona Keel and husband Scotty Keel; nephews, Jerry Shaw and wife Rebecca Shaw, William Shaw and wife Krissy Shaw, Kevin Shaw and wife Amy Shaw, and Scott Purswell.
